Physician Are Looking For Collaboration
I wanted to revisit one of my favorite presentations/studies on physician and web2.0. Manhattan Research has more than just documented the desires of phycisians and web2.0, but they added insight into why… In their paper, they mention five important trends on phycisian communities:

1. This isn’t a “new internet”, just an evolved one…
Here it is all about user generated content, and user collaboration. In today’s web, users want to contribute and can, so the question is how can you embrace the desire.
2. Think in terms of broader trends, and not just cool companies and technologies
Mobile devices, social networks, twitter, and more, are just the tip of the iceberg, but they represent a new paradigm of communication. Look at them broadly, and how they could serve your surgeons.
3. Physicians are already using web2.0, over 245,000 of them
Physicians are using the internet, duh… So what are you waiting for? Oh, that’s right compliance… This is where customization comes in. Try looking for companies that are in the space and that have experiene. BUT, not all services are the same…
4. The Physicians involved in web2.0, are you current and future customers
Again, time to engage with them!
5. Get ready for web3.0 – when the web works for the user
At Syndicom, we call this “Knowledge finds you”… This is how we believe collaboration and our communities of practice will add value when web3.0 comes alive…
Thanks to http://www.flickr.com/photos/vanzhou/ for the incredible picture. This really captured my sense of web2.0…
