SpineConnect in the news!
I have been meaning to catch everyone up on the news this month so this week I have two tidbits to share in the digest…
First up, as you may know, a couple of weeks ago, while on a whirlwind conferencing tour, Walker and Scott jetted out to San Francisco to attend the Health 2.0 conference and rub some shoulders over there. From all accounts across the blogosphere, this was quite the event! And it seems SpineConnect and Syndicom made quite an impression!
Nitin, over at the Software abstractions blog gave a review of the conference and details the level of fragmentation that currently exists within the healthcare field and the changes to come from a health 2.0 movement grounded in communication, collaboration, community and content (all of which we
know, can be found within SpineConnect!). This 4-C approach, contends Nitin, will bring a higher order level of information sharing and collaboration among all those fragmented and isolated constituents in healthcare, “enabling them to work together seamlessly using these new tools which can be applied to any type of activity that physicians get together and perform. With the appropriate tools, physicians can get together quickly and easily to discuss and consult on unusual medical cases; detect, diagnose and treat conditions that span multiple specialties; address rare conditions; and so on.” And then……. Nitin held up SpineConnect as an example, describing our community as a dedicated location where “…the only pediatric spinal cord surgeon in a small town will be able to connect with peers across the country when she faces a patient with a rare complication.” Kudos to you all!

Moving on, this week, Syndicom announced a strategic partnership with the medical device company DFine, Inc, building a surgeon-to-surgeon platform for its surgeons to efficiently expedite their understanding of, and case discussions about, the StabiliT™ Vertebral Augmentation System. Surgeons will be able to share knowledge and communicate together to collaborate on the StabiliT™ Vertebral Augmentation System. As Walker puts it, “We took what we learned about DFine and applied a model, based on our experience in SpineConnect.com, which will enhance the StabiliT™ Vertebral Augmentation System education process. Our goal is two-fold: provide DFine a continuing education program where surgeons are able to share their experiences and support procedural expertise through collaboration.”
So, there you go. Good things happen when we connect!
With thanks to Precious Roy and Debi123 for their beautiful images!
